Become a Volunteer

Volunteers are a vital part of Clarecare’s past, present and future. Over the last 40 years Clarecare owes a huge debt to its many volunteers for its establishment and continued existence. Although Clarecare has diversified and grown, volunteers continue to be important and many have stayed involved with Clarecare in a variety of activities: as board members, as helpers in summer camps and older persons’ holidays, as thrift shop assistants, meals providers, church gate collectors, bus drivers, aftercare facilitators, for short or long periods of time. Volunteers are appointed to complement paid staff not to substitute them. The term volunteer includes students and those on placements.

Who is eligible to be volunteer

Volunteering is defined as the commitment of time and energy, for the benefit of the society and the community, the environment or individuals outside ones immediate family. It is undertaken freely and by choice, without concern for financial gain. Clarecare volunteers must:

  • Be over 18 yrs old, or 16-18yrs. with parent’s permission
  • Understand and be committed to the ethos and mission statement of Clarecare.
  • Have skills, needs and experience that match the needs of the organisation
  • Not have any conflict of interest with the organisation and/or individual services
