Older Persons Services

This sector is primarily concerned with the provision of the Home Help service. There are some 470 Home Helps who deliver 17,000 hours of service per month to 935 clients. The Day Centres provide a variety of activity/supports, and serve up to 80 meals per day. The service is delivered through volunteers and also has a partnership with FAS providing additional helpers. The services provided in this sector are outlined below:

Home Help

The Home Help Service provides a home-based care services primarily to older people. In some circumstances, support is offered to families in need. It is a countywide service. read more

Social Work with Older People

Social Work with Older People is a countywide community based service working therapeutically with older people who are experiencing difficulty in their lives. The social worker can be a support to individuals, a resource in terms of information, and a key person in liaison with other service providers.

“Conas Ata Tu?” Project

Conas Ata Tu is a phone service, staffed by volunteers under the guidance of the social worker with older people. It provides regular phone contact and aims to reduce the risk of isolation for older people.

Meals for Older People

Clarecare Day Centres provide nutritious meals to older people in Killaloe, Ennis and Miltown Malbay. The service also organises day outings, weekend breaks and social activities for people attending the centres.
