COVID-19 Service Updates
We are currently continuing to provide homecare services throughout County Clare. We will communicate directly with everyone receiving a service in relation to any changes in service delivery.
Clarecare operates the Home Care Service in Co. Clare on behalf of the HSE, and is an approved agency of the HSE for the provision of Home Care Package. The service mainly assists older people, but also provides support to families in stress, people with disabilities, Palliative Care patients.

An application form will be sent to the applicant, followed by a home visit to assess the needs of the applicant. A risk assessment is carried out to ensure the safety of client and carer.
Following assessment, and in consultation with the client and, or the client’s family, the tasks may include, assistance with personal care, showering and dressing, meal preparation, shopping (if there is no family available), and relief for the family carer.
The Home Carer will be introduced to the client at the commencement of the service, the duties are listed in the Care Plan and a copy of the Care Plan is left in the client’s home. The carer signs the care plan at each visit. All Clarecare Home Care staff are trained and Garda Vetted.
Clarecare Home Care Coordinators carry out regular reviews of the service to ensure it is meeting the needs of the client. Clients, or their families, are encouraged to contact the Home Care Coordinator if they have comments, compliments or complaints about the service.
There is a waiting list for the provision of the Home Care Service.
Home Care Package

Day Care Centres for over 65's
Clarecare Day Centres provide nutritious meals to older people in Killaloe, Ennis and Ennistymon.
The Day Centres provide a variety of activity and supports, and serve 11,000 meals annually.
The service also organises day outings, weekend breaks and social activities for people attending the centres.
The service is run by Clarecare staff with assistance from Community Employment participants and volunteers.
Social Work with Older People
Clarecare provides a dedicated community based social work service for older people, age 65 and over, who are experiencing difficulties in their lives. The service facilitates older people to identify options and make decisions for themselves so they may improve the quality of their lives. This is done through home visits, phone calls, hospital and nursing home visits.
Clarecare social work department supports clients through the Conas Átá Tú phone service list. Clients receive a regular phone call from the service. This regular phone contact aims to reduce the risk of isolation for older people.
