Once again Clarecare celebrated and thanked its volunteers through an evening of entertainment on 7th Dec’17 while also marking International Volunteer Day.  The international theme for 2017 was You are the change and the Clarecare theme echoed change through the theme of upcycling, recycling, re use and re vamp.

In marking the evening James highlighted the importance of giving people time, a listening ear, dignity and reminded us that small acts of human kindness can make huge differences in the lives of people who struggle to manage difficult periods in their lives.  In particular he noted that thrift shops that already play an important part in changing our attitudes towards re using furniture and clothing, increasingly play an important role as  a place for people to make connections with others.

The night started with a fashion show where all the clothes were revamped, upcycled and recycled.  An exhibition of multiple uses of everyday items were on display following the show.  Inevitably the night finished up with a cuppa and a chat where people met old friends or new people for the first time.
